Background: The application of zero-valent iron nanoparticles (nZVI) to remediate soil and groundwater has gained increased attention within the last decade, primarily due their high reactivity, cost-effectiveness potential treat a broad range contaminants (e.g., chlorinated organic solvents, inorganic anions, or metals). Objective: In this paper, state art applicability nanomaterials, especially most frequently used nZVI in groundwater, is presented. purpose article give an overview current knowledge pertaining synthesis, employment, limitations, risk nanoparticles. Methods: Therefore, authors have reviewed discussed recent patents papers related developments approaches made on synthesis nanoparticles, emphasizing justification green methods. studies effective use remediating are addressed. challenges, risks innovative nanoremediation technology also discussed.
